Mick Jones Les Paul Custom |
Gibson Guitar announced new addition to the Gibson Custom line of Inspired By guitars that salute several major influences in music history developed by Gibson Custom in Nashville. British guitarist Mick Jones appeared on recordings by George Harrison, Peter Frampton, Spooky Tooth and the Leslie West Band before forming the rock band Foreigner and going five times platinum with their 1977 self titled album. The Gibson Custom shop honors his success with a recreation of his original Les Paul Custom.

The Mick Jones Les Paul Custom features a one-piece solid mahogany body with aged ebony finish and gold-aged hardware. With a Mick Jones profile, the one-piece mahogany neck includes pearl block inlays. Two ’57 Classic exposed coil pickups are also included in the guitar’s design along with a black metal jackplate and black Schaller strap locks.

Judas Priest Latest release 'Nostradaums' |
Think ‘Double vinyl, gatefold sleeve concept album,’ and some of rock’s all-time classic recordings come to mind. But in the realm of heavy metal, there has never been a double vinyl (now disc!) concept album that has managed to balance a thought-provoking storyline with metallic thunder. That was, until now. Metal legends JUDAS PRIEST will be releasing their sprawling double disc concept album, ‘Nostradamus’ via Columbia Records on Monday, June 16th in the UK/Europe, and a day later in the US on Epic Records.
Long in the works, ‘Nostradamus’ takes epic storytelling to a whole new level, as it recounts the life of this mysterious, world-known 16th Century French prophet. Some of the events that Nostradamus experts have interpreted as his predictions include the great fire of London in 1666, the rise of Adolf Hitler, and most recently, 9-11, among countless other renowned events.
“As in any concept piece, the lifeline needs to be of a solid source, taking the music over many levels of interest and perception,” points out singer Rob Halford. “Nostradamus’ contains new frontiers explored and defined. The sense of adventure and the journey we undertook bringing the man’s life alive with metal was a real labour of love.”

John McLaughlin releases new CD 'Foating Point' and DVD |
2008 release from guitar legend John McLaughlin. John has already said Floating Point, his brand new CD, “May be the best record I ever made.”That’s really saying something when you consider McLaughlin’s prolific and trailblazing career. The guitarist and composer has appeared on some of the most important jazz-rock and world music albums in the last 40 years.
For Floating Point, which was recorded in India, McLaughlin used several of the best Indian musicians in the world. McLaughlin calls these players the “young lions” of India. They include keyboardist Loiuz Banks, drummer Ranjit Barot, electric sitarist Niladri Kumar, flautists Shashank and Naveen Kumar, percussionist Sivamani, vocalist Shankar Mahadevan, electric mandolinist U.Rajesh, and Hindustini slide guitarist Debashish Bhattacharya. Joining them were other Western stars saxophonist George Brooks and bassist Hadrien Feraud. With a line-up like that, you would expect a very Indian experience. But, McLaughlin says not necessarily so.
“Now while this CD features predominantly Indian musicians, we are in quite another form compared to the group Shakti,” McLaughlin says. “The music is for the most part ‘Jazz-Fusion’ if a label has to be put on it. But with the musicians involved in this project, it has also a ‘world’ kind of atmosphere.”
